Alaska Highway vs. the Cassiar Highway

To reach the Yukon and Alaska by road, travellers must drive through British Columbia.  Most RVers take the Alaska Highway heading north and the Cassiar Highway on their return south.

The Alaska Highway is a major route.  It is well-maintained.
The Cassiar is more remote, which is why we prefer it both north- and south-bound.

The Cassiar route from Prince George to Whitehorse is only 210 km (130 miles) shorter than the Alaska Highway route from Prince George to Whitehorse.

The Kootenays in south-eastern B.C. are a favourite area of ours.  Nakusp Hot Springs is very high on our list of best get-aways.  I hope to add pictures of great spots in the Kootenays in the future.

We also enjoy camping on Vancouver Island, and spend many weekends exploring backroads and recreation areas off the beaten track.  Again, I'll be adding some pictures from these areas.
