My hobby of photographing birds started with an eagle at Kinaskan Lake in northern British Columbia. This resulting images taken with my Canon S5IS were not great.
However, this grumpy bald eagle whetted my appetite to take more shots of birds ...
Eagle at Kinaskan Lake on the Cassiar Highway in Northern B.C. -

I tried numerous shots of this eagle and quickly realized the challenge of photographing birds well. Thus, whenever the opportunity presented itself, I photographed more birds to improve my skill. Then I upgraded to a better camera; a DSLR with good lenses. Then tried to photograph birds in flight (BIF). I am still trying to fine-tune that skill and admire those who do it so very well.
Perhaps I am an amateur "birder" at heart!
