Yup, today was our last day on the road. Sigh ...
It was another sunny blue day as we hit the road. Made a quick stop at the main entrance to Manning Park as we departed the park ...

Then boogied through the Fraser Valley to the ferry at
Tsawwassen. We were on the
3 p.m. ferry, arrived on the Island at 4:30 p.m. and made it home by
6 p.m.
This was definitely one of our most difficult trips. Being home without our Tazz bouncing around her yard was especially difficult. We both missed her greatly.
On Monday, Steve returned to work. I visited the SPCA.
There was a young dog who had been at the SPCA for numerous months. Before that he had been on death-row on the Lower Mainland. Highly stressed and not socialable, this little guy needed a break. We really weren't sure if we were ready for a dog, but this little guy needed a place in the world and we felt we needed a dog at our place. And so the SPCA agreed to let us foster him. Four weeks later the paper work was completed and Kodi officially joined our family!

Kodi -- possibly a traditional bone mouth Shar Pei who was about 18
months old in October
Six weeks later we adopted a second dog. She was a stray with her mom. Both were picked up by the SPCA and no one claimed them. Mom was pregnant and this "little" girl needed a new family.

Ursa -- part sugar, part teddy bear, part something big & fluffy,
and about 8 months old
Now, we're looking forward to our 2011 trip to the Yukon with Kodi & Ursa! These two have been best friends from day one. Kodi still wrestles with his fears after six months BUT is doing well overall. He trusts his humans and each day makes progress. He's come a long way from the scaredy-cat that kept falling asleep standing up because he feared laying down in the presence of the humans! He even eats with me nearby now!

It took me until April 2011 to complete this travelogue. Reliving Tazz's illness and death was difficult; I delayed it a long while. In a way, completing these pages has been therapeutic. I still miss Tazz every day; she was our very special heart-dog.
To conclude ... I want to thank good friend Joe for his patience. Joe diligently read each page, kindly let me know about errors, and also kept prompting me to get the next page done. Without Joe, this journey would not have been completed!
